BCB appoints Ryan Cook as Tigers’ fielding consultant

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has appointed Ryan Lyall Cook as fielding consultant of Bangladesh National Cricket Team. The South African coach, who has reached an agreement with BCB to work up to ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 in England and Wales, will join the Bangladesh Team in Jamaica on Friday.

He will effectively take over from Sohel Islam, who is with the team as a stop-gap fielding coach following Richard Halsall’s exit earlier this year. Halsall was Bangladesh’s assis-tant coach but was mainly a fielding coach.

Cook is currently the head coach and high performance director of Gary Kirsten Cricket academy in Cape Town. He is also the assistant coach of Hobart Hurricanes in Australia’s Big Bash League. He has also served as the assistant coach of South Africa A Team. Cook was also the assistant coach of South Africa Under 19 Team in the ICC Under 19 World Cup 2016 in Bangladesh.

Last month, Steve Rhodes was appointed as the head coach of Bangladesh for two years.
