Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun will get scope to act as Inspector General of Police (IGP) for one-and-half-year as the government has extended his tenure on a contract basis.

The Public Administration Ministry issued a gazette notification to this end on Monday evening.

As per the circular, Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun's post retirement leave and related benefits have been suspended as per Section 49 of the Public Service Act 2018 and he has been appointed as Police chief for a period of one-and-half-year from January 12 or the date of joining.

Mentionable, he took office as IGP on September 30, last year.
