Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque has said eight people were infected with Nipah virus this year. Of them, five people died.   

The Health Minister revealed this information at the conference room of the Secretariat over the outbreak of Nipah virus on Sunday noon.

He said, “We have got eight patients. Of them, five died. Some 70 percent people who are infected with the virus become the death victims.”

Zahid Maleque advised people not to consume raw date juice and fruits eaten by birds in order to check the spread of this deadly virus.
