Nonagenarian language movement hero Koyes Uddin died of old-age complications at his Beltiya village residence in the town on Friday night. He was 96.
Koyes Uddin, a life term bachelor, was suffering from various old-age complications for long.
After two namaz-e-janajas, his body was kept on the central Shaheed Minar premises here to pay tributes to people from all walks of life.
Family sources said in line with Koyes Uddin's will, his body was
donated to Sheikh Hasina Medical College and Hospital, Jamalpur.
Koyes Uddin, locally known as 'Koyes Bhai' spent a year in jail during Ayub Khan's martial law for composing anti-Ayub songs.
In a message of condolence, Awami League organising secretary Mirza Azam, MP, condoled the death of Koyes Uddin.
