On the occasion of Leap Year yesterday (29 February), there was a 20 percent discount at the Kacchi Bhai Restaurant. As a result, a large number of food lovers went to the restaurant. The restaurant was overcrowded when the fire broke out at around 10:00pm, eyewitnesses said.

At least 46 dead in the devastating fire that razed through the building housing the Kacchi Bhai outlet on Bailey Road in the capital Dhaka on Thursday night.

Health Minister Samanta Lal Sen said on Friday that the people undergoing treatment are in critical condition. The death toll from the blazing inferno kept climbing through the night, and is likely to rise further.
