The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Bangladesh Section has focused on empowering women in engineering technology to ensure the inclusive development of the country, speakers said.
They also emphasised on public-private collaboration to accelerate the career growth of women while addressing a seminar at the Institute of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) in Dhaka.
IEEE Bangladesh, in association with the Global IEEE Women in Engineering affinity group, organised the discussion marking Women's History Month on Thursday, according to a press release.
IEEE Women in Engineering affinity group’s global chair Prof Celia Shahnaz talked about the enormous number of impactful activities of the platform at different universities.
Dr Celia, also a professor at BUET, shared the journey and hard work of the group and their outstanding international achievements by working for women in the local and international community.
Deputy secretary of Commerce Ministry Shumoni Aktar focused on her career path and how she overcame the challenges for a long time.
“I tried my level best to overcome stereotypes and serve my duty,” she said.
Energypac Enginnering former deputy general manager Pramiti Alam and Robi Axiata vice president Anamika Bhakta also took part in the panel discussion moderated by IEEE Bangladesh chair Prof Moshiul Hoque.
