Food inflation hits 10.22%, highest in 5 months

Food inflation spiked to 10.22 percent in April, marking its highest level in past five months, adversely impacting the economically disadvantaged and those with low incomes.

However, the overall inflation slightly decreased to 9.74 percent from 9.87 percent in March, according to a data released by the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) on Monday.

On the contrary, the non-food inflation dipped to 9.34 percent in April from 9.64 percent in March, BBS said in its report.

Despite government measures to mitigate the inflation, it has persisted at elevated levels for over a year with no indication of significant improvement.
