Finance Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali has been infected with Covid-19, prompting him to join cabinet meetings virtually. He has avoided hospitalisation as of now.

He also reportedly took part in a pre-budget meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina through videoconference.

Abul Hassan is due to present the budget plan for the fiscal year starting July 2024 at the parliament on 6 June.
