42 drivers of battery-powered rickshaws sent to jail
The detainees are accused of vandalising vehicles, attacking police

A Dhaka court on Monday issued an order to send 42 drivers of battery-powered rickshaws to jail after they were arrested over clashes with the police during a protest against the ban on the electric three-wheelers.
Earlier, three separate cases were filed with Mirpur, Pallabi and Kafrul Police Stations in connection with the clashes.
In the three cases, the rickshaw drivers were accused of vandalising vehicles and attacking the police during their Sunday demonstrations.
It may be noted that on Sunday, auto-rickshaw drivers blocked roads in Agargaon, Mirpur-1, 10 and some other areas in the capital. Later, when the police tried to disperse them, the Mirpur area turned into a battleground.
The accused in the three cases are Anik, Md Abu Bakkar, Md Ali Hossain, Md Sagar Mridha, Md Sahar Sheikh, Md Bakul Hossain, Md Nurul Islam, Md Majed Ali, Md Motahar Hossain, Md Dulu Mia alias Bulu, Nabi Hossain, Md Sahabuddin, Ruhul Amin, Md Junaid, Md Zakir Hossain, Rana Chowdhury, Md Russell, Zakir Hossain, Md Mehedi Hasan, Jalal Sharif, Md Abdul Motaleb, Morsalin Mia, Md Shahjahan Mia, Md Russell, Md Wajib, Anwar Hossain, Md Ataur Rahman, Md Suman, Noor Mohammad Sharif, Fakrul Islam, Kamal Mia, Al Amin Mia, Supta Roy, Osman Gani, Shakeel Hossain, Abdul Hamid, Azizul Haque, Amir, Shahidul Islam, Zahurul Islam and Russell.
