Opting to bowl after winning the toss, hosts West Indies restricted Papua New Guinea to 133/8 in their opening 2024 ICC T20 World Cup match.
Papua New Guinea batsman Sese Bau departed after a fighting half-century in 43 balls, with wickets tumbling at the other end.
Star all-rounder Andre Russell picked up two wickets, taking his T20I wickets tally above 50.
Earlier, Roston Chase took a stunner while fielding at point to send Papua New Guinea captain Assad Vala back to the dugout.
Left-arm spinner Akeal Hosein opened the bowling on a spin-friendly track, and restricted the scoring rate. Regarded by many as dark horses for the tournament, the West Indies are aiming for a record third T20 World Cup title.
