OIC condemns Al-Aqsa Mosque incursion and extremists’ march in occupied Al-Quds

Hundreds of Israeli nationalists, including far-right activists, gather at the Western Wall in the Old City of Jerusalem on 5 June 2024, during the so-called Jerusalem Day flag march which commemorates the Israeli army's capture in the 1967 Arab-Israeli war of the city's eastern sector home to the Al-Aqsa mosque compound, Islam's third holiest site, which Jews call the Temple Mount. The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has condemned Israeli occupation forces for its flagrant incursion into the Al-Aqsa Mosque and allowing extremist settler groups to organise a provocative procession in the old districts of the occupied Al-Quds.

It is part of illegal attempt to undermine the existing historical and legal situation in the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Al-Quds, particularly the Al-Aqsa Mosque, read a press statement of the OIC issued in Jeddah.

The OIC reiterated that Al-Quds Al-Sharif, the capital of the State of Palestine, is an integral part of the Palestinian territory occupied in 1967.

It also renewed its rejection of measures or decisions aimed at forcing the so-called Israeli sovereignty on the city and its holy sites.

The OIC considered such measures illegal and illegitimate under international law and relevant United Nations resolutions.

The OIC also called on the international community to assume its responsibility and put pressure on Israel, the occupying power, to stop the violence and organised terrorism perpetrated by the extremist settler groups and Israeli occupation forces throughout the Gaza Strip.
