The government is developing a range of products for exporting large number of these in a bid to curb the sole reliance on readymade garments, finance minister said during his announcement of budget plan for the next fiscal year.
Measures have already been taken for resolving issues impeding the increased and diverse production as well as export of these products, minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali said at the parliament on Thursday.
On Thursday, the minister listed the new products to get priority for export: ships, electronics and home appliances, packaging materials, tech and communication equipment, furniture, rubber, pharmaceuticals, ceramics and agro-processed goods, among others.
The government has already started focusing on processed foods, leather goods, light engineering products, and pharmaceuticals to broaden their export destinations.
