A section of BUET workers and officers confined Vice Chancellor Satya Prasad Majumder to his office on Monday, the last day of his tenure, demanding reinstatement of 2015 promotion regulations.

The university authority decided to cancel the promotion regulations of 2015 on 27 December last year, but published the notification on Monday. Protesters claimed the notification was kept hidden intentionally to evade agitation by university employees.

They demanded the restoration of the regulations as well as the cancellation of any new promotion regulation. The demanded the vice chancellor to resolve the issue through dialogue.
