As high as 78.57% of 28 programmes undertaken by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change were implemented during its 100-day work plan, Saber Hossain Chowdhury said on Thursday.

“Two weeks after the swearing-in of the new cabinet, we announced a 100-day priority action plan,” he said at a press conference held at the secretariat in Dhaka.

The 100-day programme of the ministry began on 25 January and concluded on 30 June.

Minister Saber said, “There were 28 programmes. Of those, 22 were fully implemented and four witnessed partial implementation, while two programmes did not yield success.”

There are 7,900 brick kilns across the country, according to the organisation of the owners of brick kilns, he said. “As many as 4,600 brick kilns of those are illegal since we have not issued them any licence.”

Saber added, “A number of 3,500 kilns are using the conventional method to produce bricks and we will work on the issue.”
