Hundreds of people organised an impromptu procession after the Juma prayer at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque, protesting the killing and brutal attacks on quota reform protesters.

The procession, under the banner of the Qawmi Madrasa Students Oikya, started from the North gate of the national mosque and moved towards Shahbagh intersection, amidst the presence of law enforcement officers.

Authorities deployed an adequate number of law enforcers at various strategic points, including Paltan and Dainik Bangla intersections. They were equipped with sophisticated firearms and armored vehicles to prevent any untoward incidents.

On August 1, the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement announced a nationwide prayer and student procession programme for today.

This initiative is in protest against the killings and mass arrests and aims to press for their 9-point demand.

The demands include justice for those killed during the quota reform movement and the immediate release of those arrested in this connection.

All mosques, temples and churches were urged to hold prayers for the students who were slain during the quota reform movement.
