Saturday marks the 27th death anniversary of the late Md. Abdul Malek Monsur, a former prominent businessman of Banaripara Bandar Bazaar and the father of Sohel Sani, Assistant Editor of Bangladesh Pratidin.

Malek Monsur passed away on this day in 1997 after battling lung cancer.

To honour his memory, a prayer and milad mahfil have been organized at the Shantinagar residence of his son, journalist Sohel Sani, in Dhaka.

Besides, similar commemorative gatherings will be held at the residence of his other sons: Rahad Sumon, President of Banaripara Press Club, and Nasir Ahmed Rubel, Manager of EXIM Bank's Barishal Divisional Branch, at their homes in Banaripara's Ward No. 2 and Barishal, respectively.

Malek Monsur is remembered fondly by his family, friends, and the community he served.
