Prof Niaz Ahmed appointed DU VC temporarily
He is a renowned academician with more than 25 years of teaching and research experience

Prof Niaz Ahmed Khan has been appointed temporarily as the vice-chancellor of Dhaka University.
The Secondary and Higher Education Division of the education ministry issued a gazette notification on Tuesday with the approval of the president and chancellor of the university.
President Mohammed Shahabuddin has made the appointment as per the Dhaka University Order, 1973, read the notification.
This appointment would be effective from the date of his joining and Prof Niaz would be entitled to the salary along with allowances equivalent to his present post, it said.
The president could cancel the appointment at any time, the notification added.
Niaz Ahmed is a professor at the Department of Development Studies of Dhaka University. He also served as the pro-vice-chancellor of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB).
He is a renowned academician with more than 25 years of teaching and research experience in Bangladesh, the UK, and Thailand in the fields of social sciences, environmental/natural resource management, development studies, and business administration.
On 10 August, former DU VC Prof ASM Maksud Kamal resigned from his post.
