A case has been filed against former education minister Mohibul Hassan Chowdhoury Nowfel, former city mayor Rezaul Karim, former lawmaker Mohiuddin Bachchu, and 159 others over vandalising and looting the Chattogram city BNP office on 4 August.
Azahar Uddin Rocky, joint secretary of Enayet Bazar Ward unit Swechchhasebok Dal, the volunteer wing of the BNP, lodged the case accusing 162 identified people and 300-350 unidentified ones on Sunday.
Allegations of attacking, looting, and vandalising the BNP office in the city’s Noor Ahmed Road were brought against the accused in the case.
Kotwali police station Officer-in-Charge SM Obaidul Haque said former ward councillors, as well as activists and leaders of the Awami League, its youth body Juba League, and student wing Chhatra League, have also been made accused.
The plaintiff in the case alleged that at the directives of some of the accused, others opened fire and blasted crude bombs in front of the party office and later vandalised and looted valuables from it.
