The interim government and garment business owners on Tuesday agreed to meet all the 18 demands for which the workers have been demonstrating for more than a month.

The RMG business owners have agreed to raise the minimum wage of workers to 2023 government declaration by October in all factories, clear all the unpaid dues for workers by 10 October, allow a 5% annual increment, prevent arbitrary sacking of workers and raise bonuses, among other measures.

The 2023 minimum wage announced by the now ousted autocratic Awami League government would be re-evaluated while day-care corners would also be established at each factory for working mothers, said Labour Secretary AHM Shafiquzzaman after the meeting held at Bangladesh Secretariat.

BGMEA leaders, labour leaders and four advisers of the interim government attended the meeting.

In the meeting, it was also decided that all the ill-motivated cases against workers would be withdrawn and financial compensation would be provided to the 26 workers killed and others injured in the July-August anti-fascist uprising.
