Tollywood actor Tota Roy Chowdhury was initially supposed to be act in the Bangladeshi web series “Gulmohar”. For an unknown reason, Saswata Chatterjee was chosen to replace in the Syed Ahmed Shawki-directed series.

But why has Tota Roy withdrawn himself from the project? Regarding this, the actor recently opened up in a Kolkata-based media.  In a conversation with Anandabazar Online, Tota Roy said, “The story, the screenplay, the characters — I loved everything about the series. I was informed before the signing of the contract that 30 percent of the earnings should be paid to the government of Bangladesh as tax. That’s their rule, and that point I had a problem.”  

The actor’s further policy is that he will take a pay cut only for the role “Feluda”. Because this character gave him world fame. The viewers are also looking forward to seeing his starrer “Feluda”. If 30 percent of the earnings are given to Bangladesh from the series earnings, his remuneration will be less than the “Feluda” remuneration.

After that Saswata was chosen in his place. What does he know? In answer to this question, Tota replied, “I don’t know. I didn’t say anything to Apu da (Saswata). My best wishes to him for acting in this role. I know, no one can portray the character better than him.”
