Bangladesh suffered an eight-wicket defeat in their third Group B match against West Indies in the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Thursday.

With this defeat, Bangladesh's hopes of reaching the semifinals all but ended.

West Indies comfortably chased down 103 set by Nigar Sultana's side losing two wickets in only 12.5 overs.

Hayley Mathews scored 34 while Stefanie Taylor and Deandra Dotting bagged 27 and unbeaten 19 respectively to guide West Indies home.

Marufa Akter and Nahida Akter picked up a wicket each.

Earlier, Bangladesh showed yet another disappointing batting performance, posting 102/8 in their 20 overs.

Skipper Nigar Sultana was the top scorer with 39 to her name from 44 balls smashing four boundaries. But no support from the lower order didn't let Bangladesh score as much as they would've wanted after reaching 58/2 halfway through their innings.

Dilara Akter scored 19 while Sobhana Mostary bagged 19.

For West Indies, Karishma Ramharack picked up four wickets while Afy Fletcher bagged a brace.

Bangladesh face South Africa in their final Group B match on Saturday.
