Police have raided a flat in Chattogram city’s Agrabad area suspecting the presence there of absconding former road transport minister Obaidul Quader.
Failing to get Quader in the raid on Saturday night, the law enforcers detained his brother-in-law Nurul Huda Babu, 70, from the flat and took him to the port city’s Kotwali police station, said sources in the Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP).
When contacted, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Rois Uddin of Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) claimed a case in connection with attacks on the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement has been filed with the Kotwali police station.
There was an accused named as Nurul Huda, without address and other details, in the case.
On information, police picked up Nurul Huda, a businessman by profession, from the Agrabad flat on Saturday night, said the DC.
But, after investigation and interrogation, Huda’s involvement in the incident was not found. Moreover, there is no other case against him, he stated.
Later, Huda was released under the custody of his family members on Sunday afternoon, DC Rois added.
