Three judges of the Supreme Court’s High Court Division have submitted their resignation letters to President Mohammed Shahabuddin.

The judges who resigned are Justice Salma Masud Chowdhury, Justice Quazi Reza-Ul Hoque, and Justice AKM Zahirul Hoque.

The president has accepted their resignation letters, according to a notification issued by the law ministry on Tuesday.

The notification, signed by Sheikh Abu Taher, secretary of the ministry (on duty), by order of the president, stated, “Justice Salma Masud Chowdhury, Justice Quazi Reza-Ul Hoque, and Justice AKM Zahirul Hoque of the High Court Division of the Supreme Court have resigned from their posts in a signed letter addressed to the president in accordance with Article 96(4) of the constitution. The president has accepted their resignations.”

These three judges of the High Court Division had not been assigned to any bench in recent years. It is widely discussed that allegations of unethical activities were made against them.

The resignation of the three judges follows the recent formation of the Supreme Judicial Council.
