Theatre troupe Theatreian will stage its much-acclaimed production “Death of a Salesman” at the main auditorium of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) in the capital this evening.

Written by American playwright Arthur Miller in 1948, the play has been translated into Bangla by Fateh Lohani and directed by Ashiqur Rahman Leeon.

Death of a Salesman is a two-act tragedy set in late 1940s Brooklyn told through a montage of memories, dreams and arguments of the protagonist Willy Loman, a travelling salesman who is despondent with his life and appears to be slipping into senility.

The play addresses a variety of themes, such as the American dream, the anatomy of truth, and infidelity. It won the 1949 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and Tony Award for Best Play. It is considered by some critics to be one of the greatest plays of the 20th century.

The probable cast of the play includes, Md Mainul Islam Tawhid, Ahmed Sujan, Amirul Mamun, Abdul Hai, Abdur Rahman Shohag, Litu Ray played Bernard, Syedur Rahman Nayan, Ram Kanto, Nazmul Naim, Tasmia Mim, Prithu Ovishek, Farabi Zaman Shahjadi and others.
