Two Biman passengers, including actress Anamika Juthi, were held along with jewellery weighing 733 grams at Chattogram Shah Amanat International Airport on Saturday morning.

Sources said Juthi and another passenger, Mohammad Raihan Iqbal, arrived at the airport from Dubai at 9:35am on flight BG-148.

Acting on a tip-off, officials from the National Security Intelligence and Customs seized the gold items, including necklaces and bangles, which were tactfully concealed inside their bodies and handbags, said Public Relations Officer Engineer Mohammad Ibrahim Khalil of the airport.

The market value of the gold items is estimated to be around Tk67 lakh, Ibrahim said.

The duo was later sent to Dhaka, as they were scheduled to travel there via Chattogram on the same flight, he added.

Further legal proceedings in connection with the incident are underway, the officer added.
