Anti-Discrimination Student Movement rejects president's invitation

The Anti-Discrimination Student Movement on Monday noon rejected an invitation by President Mohammed Shahabuddin to join Victory Day celebration programmes arranged at his official residence Bangabhaban.

In a statement, the student group claimed it cannot honour an invitation from a president linked to the fascist government the group helped oust through a popular uprising. Receiving the invitation would be a betrayal of the memories of the July-August uprising, the statement read.

Separately, Ibrahim Nirob, a central executive committee member of the group, claimed his comrades rather demand the resignation of Shahabuddin as his hands are also stained with the blood of uprising martyrs.

Receiving the president’s invitation is out of the question for members of Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, Ibrahim wrote on his facebook page.
