Police have arrested 93 people on suspicion of their involvement in mugging in Dhaka city.
Members of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested them raiding areas under various Dhaka police stations over a 24-hour period, until 8am on Monday, Muhammad Talebur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner at the DMP Media and Public Relations division, said.
He shared the development at a press conference at the DMP Media Centre in Dhaka on Monday.
Among the arrestees, 26 were arrested from areas under DMP Lalbagh crime division, 19 from Tejgaon division, 14 from Motijheel division, 10 from Wari division, eight each from Uttara and Ramna divisions, and four each from Mirpur and Gulshan divisions.
Legal action against the arrestees is underway, Talebur Rahman added.
Meanwhile, the members of Bangladesh Army arrested 26 extortionists and drug peddlers from different parts of the capital between 18 and 22 December.
Theywere arrested conducting raids in Mohakhali, Tejgaon, Dhanmondi, Mohammadpur and Kamrangirchar areas of the city.
