Rahamatganj crush Fakirerpool to climb second

Rahamatganj Muslim Friends Society crushed Fakirerpool Young Men's Club by 6-1 goals in their first leg match of the ongoing Bashundhara Group Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2024-25 at the Shahid Barkat Stadium in Gazipur on Saturday.
Ghanaian forward Samuel Boateng and defender Rajon Howladar scored a brace each in the 25th, 72nd, and 54th, 90+6th minutes respectively while defender Taj Uddin and forward Nabib Newaz added one each in the 62nd and 66th minutes for Rahamatganj MFS.
Uzbek forward Akobir Turaev reduced the gap for Fakirerpool YMC converting a spot kick correctly in the 28th minute.
Abahani Ltd Dhaka beat Police Football Club by 2-0 goals in the day’s other match at the Shaheed Dhirendranath Datta Stadium in Cumilla.
Local forwards Arman Faysal Akash and Sahariar Emon scored one each for the winners in the 23rd and 89th minutes.
After the day’s results, both Rahamatganj and Abahani shared the second spot in the 10-team point table with 12 points from four wins and one defeat each.
Police FC slipped to sixth with their previous credit of 6 points from two wins and three defeats while Fakirerpool slipped to ninth with their previous credit of 3 points from one win and four defeats.
