Bashundhara Kings secured their second win in the ongoing Bashundhara Group Federation Cup 2024-25 after beating Police Football Club by 3-2 goals in their third match of the five-team Group A at the Bashundhara Kings Arena in Dhaka on Tuesday.

Defender Topu Barman opened account for Kings with a grounder off a corner from Brazilian midfielder Miguel Figueira in the sixth minute but forward Al Amin levelled the margin with a perfect volley for Police in the seventh minute.

Within four minutes, Miguel again put his side on the driving seat with a smart goal from a goalmouth melee in the 11th minute.

After halftime, Brazilian midfielder Jonathan da Silveira Fernandes extended the lead for the hosts with a grounder from another goalmouth melee, off a smart pass from Miguel in the 52nd minute.

Police forward Al Amin, who earlier struck one, stole the show again with his brilliant finisher just after two minutes, but it was not enough to avoid defeat for his side.

Defending champions Kings started their campaign with a 1-0 goal win over Brothers Union Ltd in Cumilla, but got a big blow when they suffered a 0-2 goal defeat to Fortis FC at their den, Kings Arena, both in December.

However, the win over Police FC in their third group match brought some relief for Valeriu Tita and his men as they kept their hope alive for the semifinals with 6 points from three matches.

In the day’s other match of the same group, high-flying Fortis FC beat Dhaka Wanderers Club by 3-0 goals at the Shaheed Dhirendranath Datta Stadium in Cumilla.

Midfielder Joy Kumar scored a brace in the 45+2nd and 75th minutes while forward Pias Ahmmed Nova added one in the 89th minute.

Fortis consolidated the top spot with 7 points from two wins and one draw while Kings were second with 6 from two wins and one defeat, Brothers were third with their previous credit of 3 points from one win and one defeat.

Police were fourth with their previous credit of one point from one draw and one defeat and Wanderers have yet to open their accounts as they suffered two defeats.
