Members of Bangladesh Navy, in a joint operation with police, seized smuggled foreign sarees worth Tk10,35,900 in Bhola's Char Fasson on Tuesday night, according to a ISPR press release.

Acting on a tip-off, the operation was conducted in the Janata Bazar area under Char Fasson Police Station.

The team recovered 3,453 sarees, stored in 8.5 sacks, from an abandoned Nosimon (three-wheeler), officials said, adding that the seized items were handed over to Char Fasson Police Station for legal proceedings. 

The navy, operating under the 'In Aid to Civil Power' provision, conducts regular patrols and operations to maintain law and order.

The navy confirmed that such operations will continue in their designated areas of responsibility to curb smuggling and ensure compliance with the law.
