Dearness allowance for government employees will be announced before 30 June, Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration Md Mokhlesur Rahman said.

The secretary made the statement while speaking to reporters at the Bangladesh Secretariat on Thursday.

However, he did not disclose the percentage of the dearness allowance to be announced.

Rahman, who is also a member of the Dearness Allowance Review Committee, further said that two meetings have already been held regarding the matter. He added that, this time, pensioners will also receive the dearness allowance.

Besides, the secretary clarified that the dearness allowance, once announced, will be added to the basic salary during the upcoming increment.

Regarding the specific percentage of the allowance, he advised reporters to consult the finance adviser and the finance secretary for further details.

He also did not provide any information on whether the current 5% incentive for government employees would continue after the dearness allowance is announced.
