The highly anticipated meeting of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) directors is set to take place on 25 January at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium (SBNS). Key topics, including the ongoing conflict between the clubs and the BCB, are expected to be discussed.
Previously, on 18 January, BCB President Faruque Ahmed held a meeting with representatives from 76 clubs affiliated with the Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis (CCDM). The clubs had declared an indefinite boycott of the league in protest against proposed amendments to the BCB constitution.
Following that meeting, club organisers stated that the BCB president assured them he would address their concerns after consulting with the board.
On 15 January, club representatives warned of a league boycott if the controversial amendments were approved, issuing a three-day ultimatum that ended on 17 January. They also threatened to boycott the league's trophy unveiling ceremony, scheduled to take place at the SBNS.
The proposed amendments include dissolving the CCDM, reducing the number of Category-2 councilor positions, and decreasing Dhaka-based club directors from 12 to 4.
Furthermore, the total number of BCB directors would drop from 25 to 21. The clubs have also demanded the resignation of the reform committee head, Najmul Abedin Fahim, accusing him of irregularities in drafting the revised constitution.
