A Dhaka Court on Wednesday placed former Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) mayor Atiqul Islam on a 3-day fresh remand in a murder case taken place during the student-led July-August mass uprising.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate GM Farhan Ishtiyak passed the order as police produced the accused before the court and pleaded to place him on remand in the case.

He was placed on the remand in a case filed with the Uttara East Police Station over the killing of Md Fazlul Karim on 5 August. Karim's brother Anwar Hossain filed the case on 21 August.
