Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus will inaugurate the month-long Amar Ekushey Book Fair 2025 on its traditional date of 1 February at the Bangla Academy premises.

Member Secretary of the Book Fair Management Committee, Sarkar Amin, made the announcement at a press conference held at the Abdul Karim Sahitya Bisharad Auditorium of the Bangla Academy on Thursday. Director General of the Bangla Academy, Prof Mohammad Azam, was also present there.

In his statement, Sarkar Amin said that the Book Fair will be inaugurated at 3:00pm on the day, adding that the layout of this year’s book fair will remain the same as last year, though some changes have been made in the arrangements.

Due to the location of the Metro Rail Station, the outer path of the fair will be moved closer to the Ramna Kali Mandir Gate. Besides, there will be a total of four entrances and exits in TSC, Doyel Chattar, MRT Basing Plant and Engineering Institution section.

Each entrance to the book fair will have archways for security purposes. The fair premises will have its own canteen and food stalls allotted by the academy. There will be a doctor and an ambulance at the first aid center of the book fair.

Regarding the security of the book fair, Bangla Academy said that the law enforcement agencies will take necessary measures in consultation with the authorities at any time to ensure overall security.

Some 708 organisations, including 199 at Bangla Academy premises and 609 at Suhrawardy Udyan, are going to participate in the Amar Ekushey Boi Mela this year. The book fair will remain open from 3:00pm to 9:00pm every day except weekends and 21 February. On weekends the book lovers would be able explore the fair from 11:00am to 9:00pm.

There will be a break from 1:00pm to 3:00pm on Friday and 1:00pm to 2:00pm on Saturday. Like other years, Shishu Prohor (special hours for children) will be held on Friday and Saturday from 11am to 1pm.
