The government-formed six reform commissions will formally publish their reports and recommendations on 8 February, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Adviser Asif Nazrul said on Tuesday.

While addressing a press conference at the Bangladesh Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka this evening, Asif Nazrul said that the chiefs of the reform commissions will outline their short, mid and long-term recommendations in the reports to take the country forward.

The reports and the recommendations will be sent to the stakeholders, including leaders of different political parties and leaders of the July mass upsurge on the same day, he said.

The first formal meeting of the National Consensus Commission will be held in mid-February, based on discussions and consensus with political parties and those involved in the July mass upsurge, he said.

The meeting will be held with Prof Muhammad Yunus, chief of the National Consensus Commission in the chair and its date will be fixed after talking to the top authorities of different political parties and those involved in the recent anti-government movement, he said.

The chiefs of the six reform commissions and the country’s political leaders, among others, will also present at the programme.

The government has formed six separate commissions to carry out reforms in six crucial sectors – electoral system, police administration, judiciary, anti-corruption system, public administration, and constitution.

While addressing to the nation on 11 September last year, Yunus, chief of the interim government disclosed the formation of the six commissions, expressing his hope that the nation would embark on a new journey through these reforms, in line with the spirit of the July uprising and expectations of all.
