The Russian House in Dhaka in cooperation with the Serov Academy of Fine Arts organised a painting workshop on the Russian and Bangla alphabets, marking International Mother Language Day on Friday.

This event brought together 180 students who showcased their artistic talents while celebrating linguistic and cultural diversity. Russian House in Dhaka Director Pavel Dvoychenkov distributed certificates to all participants, acknowledging their dedication and creativity, read a press release.

In his address, he highlighted the significance of International Mother Language Day, which honours the sacrifices of Bangladeshi students in 1952 for the recognition of Bangla as their mother tongue.

He emphasised how the fusion of Russian and Bangla alphabets in the workshop symbolised the strong cultural ties between the two countries.

The director of the Russian House in Dhaka also thanked the Serov Academy of Fine Arts for their initiative in making the workshop a success.

He encouraged young participants to continue nurturing their creativity and embracing cross-cultural artistic exchange.

Dvoychenkov also encouraged them to learn Russian as a gateway to exploring Russia’s rich higher education opportunities, language and culture.

Emphasising the Russian House in Dhaka’s commitment to support learners, he warmly invited everyone to join the upcoming Russian language course starting in April.

The event concluded with a commitment to strengthen cultural collaboration and foster a deeper appreciation for language and art.
