Abdul Baki was returning home from the local Union Parishad (UP) premises on a bicycle carrying goods in the morning. While crossing the busy highway of the market, a covered van coming from the opposite direction hit him hard. TCB products were scattered on the highway. Local people rescued him and took him to the hospital, where the doctor declared him dead.

The incident took place on the Dinajpur-Gobindaganj regional highway in Raniganj Bazar of Ghoraghat upazila of Dinajpur around 11 am on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Abdul Baki (70), a resident of Marupara village in Singra union of the upazila.

Following the incident, police arrested the driver of the covered van, Omar Faruk (30). He is the son of Sabuj Mia of Palashbari upazila of Gaibandha.

Ghoraghat Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Nazmul Haque reported that a man named Abdul Baki died in a road accident. Upon receiving the information, the police visited the scene. They seized the covered van involved in the accident and took it into police custody.

The driver of the covered van has been arrested. The body of the deceased has been handed over to his family. A case has been filed at the police station under the Road Transport Act on behalf of the deceased's family.
