A youth, allegedly involved in smuggling activities, was shot by Indian smugglers inside Indian territory along Kanaighat upazila, Sylhet, on Friday.

BGB sources claimed Shahed Mia, 25, illegally crossed into India at 3am Friday and later entered into a clash with Indian smugglers. At one point, he died. BGB did not detail the exact circumstances of the death.

BGB-19 battalion chief told reporters that BSF has been informed of the incident, and the body will be brought inside Bangladesh through legal means. Legal measures will be sought against the killer smugglers through BSF intervention, the BGB officer said.
