Rail operations between Dhaka and most parts of the country are being disrupted after a container train derailed at the entrance of Kamalapur Railway Station on Wednesday morning.
The train services remained completely suspended for one and a half hours since the derailment at 11:30am.
Later, the authorities managed to clear one of the two tracks by 1:10pm, allowing limited train movement.
Currently, operations are continuing on a single line, causing delays to inbound and outbound trains.
Passengers were seen waiting at the station as disruptions continued.
Anwar Hossain, station master of Kamalapur, said around 2:00pm that efforts were underway to restore operations on the other track but could not confirm an exact timeframe for completion.
