Hundreds of workers from Roar Fashion Ltd, owned by former Awami League lawmaker Saifuzzaman Shikhor, laid siege to the BGMEA Bhaban in Dhaka’s Uttara on Monday, demanding unpaid wages and benefits.
Officials of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) said they could not enter the office and perform duties as workers besieged the entrance from this morning.
They also said more than 1,000 workers of the apparel factory, located in Bhaluka of Mymensingh, have yet to be paid three-month wages and service benefits.
The Daily Sun tried to contact Roar Fashion Managing Director Mamunul Islam for comments over the mobile phone, but he did not receive the call.
