Bangladesh’s star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has expressed deep concern for his longtime teammate Tamim Iqbal, who suffered a heart attack on Monday morning during a Bashundhara Dhaka Premier League (DPL) match in Savar, near Dhaka. Tamim is currently under observation.

In a heartfelt Facebook post on Monday night, Shakib shared that while it was his 38th birthday, he couldn’t fully celebrate due to Tamim’s health condition.

“Today is a special day for me, but my heart isn’t entirely filled with joy. Something feels incomplete—because my dear teammate and friend, Tamim Iqbal, is unwell,” Shakib wrote.

Recalling their years of playing together, Shakib highlighted their shared battles and memories on the field, expressing his hope for Tamim’s swift recovery.

“We have fought countless battles together, created unforgettable memories, and always stood by each other. I'd hope this journey would continue much longer without any interruptions,” he added.

Calling Tamim one of the strongest pillars of Bangladesh cricket, Shakib wished for his speedy return.

“Tamim, you are one of the biggest strengths of Bangladesh cricket. I am praying for your swift recovery and eagerly waiting to see you back on the field. InshaAllah, you will return stronger than ever.”

Shakib concluded his message with a heartfelt plea: “If there’s one birthday gift I truly wish for today, it is your good health. To everyone reading this, I request your prayers—for my brother Tamim to recover quickly and grace the cricket field once again.”
