Metro rail and intercity train services resume after Eid holiday

After the Eid holiday, metro rail services in the capital have resumed operations. Similarly, intercity trains operated by Bangladesh Railway across the country have also started running again.

Train services resumed on Tuesday (1 April) morning.

Earlier, in a special announcement, the operator of the metro rail, Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL), said on its verified Facebook page that metro rail services would remain suspended only on Eid day for the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr 2025. On all other days, metro rail services would continue as usual.

Meanwhile, during an inter-ministerial meeting before Eid, Bangladesh Railway Director General Md. Afzal Hossain announced that intercity train services would be suspended across the country on Eid day. However, the weekly day-off for all trains was canceled before Eid and was reinstated after the holiday.

According to information from Dhaka Railway Station, the first train of the day, Tourist Express, departed for Cox’s Bazar at 6:15 AM.

On the other hand, the first metro rail trip of the day departed from Uttara North Station for Motijheel at 7:10 AM, while the first train from Motijheel left for Uttara North Station at 7:30 AM.
