The government has renamed the two police stations located at either end of the Jamuna Bridge.

The Bangabandhu Bridge Pashchim Thana, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Sirajganj district police, has been renamed Jamuna Bridge Paschim Thana.

Similarly, the Bangabandhu Bridge Purba Thana, which comes under the jurisdiction of the Tangail district police, has been renamed Jamuna Bridge Purba Thana.

The Police-2 section at the Public Security Division of the Home Ministry issued a gazette on Tuesday, signed by Senior Assistant Secretary Tousif Ahmed, confirming the changes.

Earlier, on 26 February, Bangabandhu Bridge itself was renamed Jamuna Bridge.
