A Dhaka court today ordered the arrest of former Member of Parliament for Dhaka-7, Haji Salim, in a case filed with Shahbagh Police Station concerning the anti-discrimination student movement.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Partha Bhadra passed the order to officially show him arrested in the case.

On this day at the courtroom, Haji Salim engaged hinself in an altercation with police. He was brought to the courtroom at around 10:10 AM and placed in the dock, holding a page from a newspaper in his hand.

Around 10:15 AM, when a police officer attempted to take the newspaper from Haji Selim, reportedly speech-impaired, began shouting aggressively at the officer. He was eventually calmed down by the intervention of his lawyer.

Later, as he was being escorted from the courtroom to the custody cell, he again got into a loud altercation with the police. After he was calmed again, he was then taken to the custody cell.
