Former Bangladesh captain Aminul Islam Bulbul is expected to take over as president of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) following a key meeting at the board’s headquarters this afternoon.

The leadership reshuffle follows mounting unrest triggered by the government’s decision to revoke Faruque Ahmed’s appointment as a councillor nominated by the National Sports Council (NSC).

Citing Clause 13.2(b)(4) of its constitution, the NSC effectively sidelined Faruque, despite his elected status, deepening the crisis at the board.

With a no-confidence motion already tabled by several directors and pressure intensifying from both within the board and government circles, the BCB has moved swiftly to resolve the power vacuum.
