Bangladesh wrapped up the first half with a 1-0 lead over Bhutan in their FIFA International Friendly at the National Stadium in Dhaka, thanks to a debut goal from Hamza Choudhury.
The midfielder marked his first home appearance in Bangladesh colours by converting a Jamal Bhuiyan corner in the 5th minute, giving the hosts a flying start.
The home side dominated possession throughout the first 45 minutes and kept the pressure firmly on the Bhutanese defense. Skipper Jamal Bhuiyan, along with Fahamedul Islam and Rakib Hossain, created several promising opportunities, though they couldn’t add to the scoreline.
Despite a few missed chances, Bangladesh maintained control, with Bhutan offering little resistance in attack. The match also marked the international debuts of Fahamedul Islam and Taj Uddin, both of whom showed composure in their first outing.
Returning to the starting XI, captain Jamal Bhuiyan orchestrated play from midfield alongside Sohel Rana, Quazem Shah, and debutant Fahamedul. The defensive line was anchored by Topu Barman and Tariq Kazi, with Saad Uddin and Taj Uddin covering the full-back positions. Rakib Hossain led the line as the lone striker, while Mitul Marma stood between the posts.
Bangladesh will be hoping to carry this momentum into their upcoming AFC Asian Cup Qualifier against Singapore, scheduled for 10 June at the same venue.
