A mild heat wave is currently sweeping over Rajshahi, Rangpur, and Khulna divisions, as well as Feni and Mymensingh districts, and it is expected to persist for the next 24 hours.
According to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department's (BMD) storm warning center, both day and night temperatures are likely to rise slightly across the country, intensifying the feeling of heat nationwide.
In the 120-hour forecast issued on Monday morning (9 June), the BMD reported that the monsoon is currently less active over Bangladesh and remains weak to moderate over the northern Bay of Bengal.
Given this situation, light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds may occur in parts of the Chattogram division, and in one or two places in Dhaka, Barisal, and Sylhet divisions within the next 24 hours. Elsewhere, the weather is expected to remain mostly dry with partly cloudy skies.
For Tuesday (10 June), between 9 a.m. and the next 24 hours, isolated areas in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, and Barisal divisions may experience light to moderate rain or thundershowers with temporary gusty winds. Day temperatures across the country may rise slightly, while night temperatures are likely to remain nearly unchanged.
The heat wave is set to continue and may even worsen, as rain remains scarce across most regions. People are advised to take precautions to avoid heat-related illnesses.
