The bodies of a couple were recovered on Saturday from Raghunathpur, a village near the Benapole border in Jashore.

Police found the bodies in a field adjacent to their residence.

The deceased were identified as Moniruzzaman, 52, and his wife, RehenaKhatun, 45, residents of Raghunathpur.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Benapole Port Police Station Russel Mia confirmed the matter to the Daily Sun.

According to police, Rehena’s body was found in the field adjacent to their home around 9:30am, while the body of Moniruzzaman was spotted hanging from a nearby tree.

Police sent the bodies to Jashore General Hospital for an autopsy.

It is suspected that they were murdered and their bodies subsequently left at the scene.

Meanwhile, injuries were visible on Rehena’s face and neck.

OC Russel Mia said that an investigation has been launched to uncover the motive behind the killings.
