‘Team Ababil’ from the Aviation and Aerospace University, Bangladesh (AAUB) has earned global recognition by securing 16th position among 40 international finalist teams at the 20th Annual CanSat Competition, held in Virginia, USA, from June 5 to 9, 2025.
The achievement was praised by AAUB Vice Chancellor Air Vice Marshal A K M Manirul Bahar, OSP, BSP, ndc, hdmc, afwc, psc, ADWC, who congratulated the team on this milestone success.
The CanSat Competition, widely regarded as a launchpad for future aerospace engineers, challenges students to design and build a simulation satellite—or CanSat—that can survive atmospheric descent, transmit telemetry, and perform mission-specific tasks such as air brake deployment, under rigorous technical constraints.
AAUB’s ‘Team Ababil’ impressed the jury by outperforming teams from technologically advanced institutions across the USA, UK, Germany, Italy, Mexico, South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, and India. Their strong showing marked a significant moment for Bangladesh in the global aerospace education and innovation landscape.
The team was led by Assistant Professor Md Samin Rahman of the Department of Avionics Engineering, serving as faculty adviser.
GoldHill Alliance, Sincos Automation Technology Ltd, Square Informatix Ltd, MDM Traders Ltd (USA), and ZSRM extended financial and logistical support for the team’s participation in the competition.
