No Bangladeshi nationals have been reported harmed in the recent Israeli strikes on Iran, according to the Bangladesh Embassy in Tehran.

Following the attack, the embassy has been closely monitoring the situation and maintaining communication with Bangladeshis living across different regions of Iran. As of now, there have been no reports of injuries or casualties among Bangladeshi expatriates, said an embassy source on Monday.

The mission said 672 Bangladeshis are officially registered with the embassy. However, officials estimate that the actual number of Bangladeshis residing in Iran may be as high as 14,000, with a large portion of them currently living in irregular conditions.

In view of the evolving situation, the embassy has launched emergency hotlines for Bangladeshi citizens in Iran. The embassy urged all nationals to stay in touch and reach out in case of any emergency via WhatsApp or direct call. The hotline numbers are: +98 990 857 7368 and +98 912 206 5745. In addition, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dhaka has activated its own emergency contact: +880 1712 012847.

Meanwhile, diplomatic and other staff stationed at the Bangladesh Mission in Tehran are likely to be shifted to a safer location any day now, considering the situation on the ground in the Iranian capital.

The mission is in touch with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in this regard, said a diplomatic source.

In the early hours of 13 June, Israel launched air strikes on more than 100 targets inside Iran, including nuclear facilities, missile plants, and key military infrastructures. The attack reportedly killed over 20 Iranian military officials, including the chief of staff, and six nuclear scientists.

Since then, both countries have exchanged retaliatory attacks, escalating tensions in the region.
